Uzina Summer Camp was a one-week programme that was organized by our volunteers as an introduction to this big project.

The main goals of the week were to provide some new learning experiences, an introduction to skills such as dialogue and listening, and to have fun!

The first day was dedicated to introductions, forming a general understanding of the camp, and setting ground behavioral expectations as a group. 

 

We had a day dedicated to arts, where we made collages, individual and collective canvas paintings. The focus was more on the experience of art as a therapeutic activity, rather than studying the theory behind art-making. A big goal of that day was to recognize the default creative potential in every human. 

 

Another day was Camping 101 + Sports where we went to a nearby lake and learnt how to set up tents, and basic survival skills. We stretched, and did an "intensive" cardio workout.

On Uzina Olympics day, we dabbed onto the importance of teamwork by playing a set of strategy-based games. 

​

And on Street Activism day, we identified a need in the neighborhood and through brainstorming creative solutions to fulfill that need, we designed a plan and a solution.
